We are finishing the strategic planning and management phase of the Beyond Big Marketing phase II website launch. I have elected to involve the experts on my team from the beginning of the process for the new web site development. I brought them in early because the website is essentially an example of what services we provide for our customers.
One of the individuals I encouraged to be on the team is Rob Sullivan. Rob Sullivan is a search engine expert that I met in Kelowna, British Columbia. One reason I selected Rob was because what he does for my clients, he can do for our website. He knows a lot about link building strategies. I want him in on the redesign so he can help us brainstorm, organize and implement a sound strategy for link building for www.bigblackpencil.com
Link building is probably one of the most important aspects of a good search engine marketing campaign. Too often, a website owner will hire an SEO firm who will optimize their website, but that’s where their involvement ends. But SEO is just part of a complete marketing campaign.
Think of link building this way: IF SEO involves painting your store and stocking your shelves, then Link Building is akin to the flyers you distribute to all the newspapers and all the vehicle windshields you can. It’s the most effective way to build long-term exposure to your site.
If you employ experts at your company, why not make them brand ambassadors to your client and why not make them advisers to your own company?
Another person that I have included as an adviser is Oliver Baty. Oliver is a content developer. But he understands marketing and online optimization and usability as well as anybody I’ve met before. Oliver has been designing and developing web sites since 2000 and sold his first commercial site in 2001. He’s very interested in web standards, SEO and HTML5. These specific insights he possesses make him an important part of the new website strategy.
I don’t think it would be wise to try to make a solitary decision on any strategies regarding the new website launch. I think that some of my best ideas reveal themselves because my greatest idea is to surround myself with others that have great ideas. The best time to involve your company’s best talent, in a team approach is all of the time.
